Terrific Treehouses

San Antonio Botanical Center
The Terrific Treehouse Event is an opportunity for designers, builders, and artists to show off their skills at designing and building a unique treehouse. Nine incredibly creative designs will be on display, from August 30 through December 7 throughout the gardens.
Each treehouse design is unique; the designs range from a magic rocketship treehouse to a feng shui-inspired garden to a whimsical “flower fort” to hinged bamboo panels that can be changed as guests walk through the installation.
For this years Terrific Treehouse event at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, the Metropolitan Partnership for Energy has partnered with Texas Public Radio and the local chapter of the US Green Building Council to build a treehouse entirely from sustainable materials.

Dubbed our "Green Treehouse," it sets an example for an environmentally-friendly future. Draped in airy green canvas sails, this open-air backyard retreat is made entirely of sustainable materials and demonstrates the how simple it is to capture rain to water plants. The treehouse is also equipped with a solar panel to harnesses renewable, clean energy to power the LED fixtures that illuminate the space at nighttime.
Texas Public Radio will auction off our treehouse creation in December when the exhibit closes. Be sure to listen for more details.
