Build San Antonio Green is proud to announce the certification of our first Level 3 Solar Home.
This home was built by BuiltSmart Resources and designed by MSA Architecture. The home was certified through Build San Antonio Green’s Level 3 Solar Home program, and is designed to be at least 35% more efficient than current city code.
Key energy efficiency features of the home include:
- HERS Index of 51 or better – 35% more efficient than City Code in energy
- HVAC System minimum 15 SEER
- ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances
- Fluorescent, CFL or LED lighting required
- Tight building envelope to prevent air leakage
- Efficient mechanical systems
- High-performance lighting
- Low-e windows
- Solar PV system to meet all of the home’s power requirements
- Low-voc materials and adhesives for improved indoor air quality
- 30,000 gallon rainwater harvesting system
BuiltSmart is proud to announce that this home is also a resource center, educating builders and the public about the home and the feasibility of building an extremely efficient, net zero energy home through the Build San Antonio Green program!
