of Distinction Tour features Build San Antonio Green® Homes, Benefits Boysville
The 2010 Homes of Distinction Tour at Stone Creek Ranch will feature green homes certified through Build San Antonio Green®.
The Homes of Distinction are being constructed by three of the Hill Country's most reputable homebuilders; Character House Homes, Mattern & FitzGerald Custom Builders and Stadler Custom Homes. Each home is at least 3,600 square feet and they range in price from $750,000 - $1.2+ million. While touring the Homes of Distinction, guests will see features that are "Uniquely Green" and can learn more about environmentally-friendly building products and services.

through Build San Antonio Green®, San Antonio’s award-winning residential green
building program. These homes were
built according to a series of requirements as developed by Build San Antonio
Green® focusing on five key areas: water efficiency, energy efficiency, site
preservation, materials, and health/indoor air quality.
Three luxury homes will showcase the latest building products and design trends during the public tour which will raise funds for Boysville Texas. The homes will be open for tour February 25th through March 14th, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10am until 6pm and Sundays from Noon until 6pm. Boysville Texas will receive all proceeds from tour ticket sales. Patrons may tour all three homes for a $10 admission fee or purchase tickets in advance for $9 at area H-E-B locations.
Build San Antonio Green® is San Antonio’s residential green building program and an official partnership of the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, the Greater San Antonio Builders Association, CPS Energy, SAWS, Via Metropolitan Transit, AACOG, the Greater Bexar County Council of Cities and Solar San Antonio. To date Build San Antonio Green® has certified more than 350 homes in both new construction and retrofit projects. Due to increased efficiency, these homes save over 3.1 million kilowatt-hours of energy every year, enough to run more than 90 code-built homes for one year. In addition, these home prevent over 1.8 million pounds of harmful CO2 emissions every year, the equivalent of removing 150 cars from the road for one year.
The Boysville Texas campus is designed to help children in crisis who cannot remain in their own home for a variety of reasons. The children come from homes that are in crisis, due to emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Sometimes, a parent cannot take care of the child due to a terminal illness and do not have the support of family to take care of the children. Children who come to Boysville come from various backgrounds. Boysville provides food, shelter, clothing, and medical services, and other basic necessities to make the children feel safe and comfortable. Boysville also offers education services and encourages the residents to explore college, trade or military options. Boysville is able to pull children out of abuse or poverty cycles and teach them to become an active part of society.
