Build San Antonio Green
San Antonio's Residential Green Building Program
MPE’s main program is Build San
Antonio Green (BSAG), San
Antonio’s residential Green Building Program. BSAG promotes
conservation and efficiency, and was developed with input from our
partners and community stakeholders to promote and encourage local
rebates. MPE works with the building and development community to implement
green building, while also educating legislators and insurance groups
to provide incentives for Green Building. Build San Antonio Green is
not only our community’s local green building program, it is
also the only program that includes and encourages the UDC
Neighborhood Patterns, SAWS Rebates and Landscape
List, San Antonio Landscape Care
Guide, CPS Energy Rebates and Net
Metering Program, and The City of
San Antonio’s Tree Protection Ordinance.
Homes are certified green under the BSAG program through a quality review
process. Builders entering the BSAG program receive ongoing training in
green building techniques, and are required to attend Continuing
Education Classes (CEC). MPE’s BSAG program consists of a detailed green building
checklist. Member builders submit building plans and the BSAG checklist
to the MPE office, where it is reviewed for certification by MPE Staff. Each
green home built under approved specifications will earn a certificate
showing the scoring of the home, and be provided with a Homeowners Manual
containing operational information about the home.
Build San Antonio Green
Build San Antonio Green was developed by the Metropolitan
Partnership for Energy and is co-administered with the Greater
San Antonio Builders Association. The goal of
Build San Antonio Green is to create awareness and interest among builders
and homeowners in resource-efficient building methods, materials, and technologies.
The Metropolitan Partnership for Energy (MPE)
was created by a broad coalition of local government agencies and utilities
to promote sustainable energy in the San Antonio region. MPE upholds its
mandate through policy development, technical assistance, Build San Antonio
Green and ongoing outreach and education.
The Greater San Antonio
Builders Association (GSABA) is a trade association that offers the
opportunity to its members to display their products and services, and
offers the community a showcase of member profiles and products.
