Build San Antonio Green® -
San Antonio's Residential Green Building Program

Options for Builders
The Build San Antonio Green® program has a variety of options for builders wishing to build green, in both new construction and the retrofit of existing structures.
Click here for an explanation of each of the options.
Why Green Homes?
Green homes use less energy and water than traditional homes, resulting in lower utility bills for the homeowner. In addition, more durable materials result in lower operation and maintenance costs throughout the lifetime of the home. Because of improved indoor air quality, Build San Antonio Green homes are more healthful to live in. According to CPS Energy's figures, the entry-level Build San Antonio Green® home is 40% more efficient than the average San Antonio home.
How It Works
Homes are certified green under the BSAG program through a quality review
process. Builders entering the BSAG program receive ongoing training in
green building techniques, and are required to attend Continuing
Education Classes (CEC). The program consists of a detailed green building
checklist. Member builders submit building plans and the BSAG checklist
to the BSAG office, where it is reviewed for certification by BSAG Staff. Each
green home built under approved specifications will earn a certificate
showing the scoring of the home, and be provided with a Homeowners Manual
containing operational information about the home.
Build San Antonio Green® is co-administered with the Greater
San Antonio Builders Association. The goal of
Build San Antonio Green is to create awareness and interest among builders
and homeowners in resource-efficient building methods, materials, and technologies.
.
The Greater San Antonio
Builders Association (GSABA) is a trade association that offers the
opportunity to its members to display their products and services, and
offers the community a showcase of member profiles and products.
